Trump, Jerusalem, and Bible prophecy, are they connected? The answer is yes, but in ways that most folks are not aware because of a lack of understanding of what parts of the Bible are relevant to the issue and how we interpret them. But before we get there let us review the highly polarized announcement made by President Trump on December 5, 2017.
“WASHINGTON/JERUSALEM (Reuters) – President Donald Trump on Wednesday will recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and set in motion the relocation of the U.S. Embassy to the ancient city, senior U.S. officials said, a decision that upends decades of U.S. policy and risks fueling violence in the Middle East.
“Facing an outcry of opposition from Arab capitals, Trump, in a landmark speech, will announce he has ordered the State Department to begin developing a plan to move the embassy from Tel Aviv in what is expected to be a process that takes three to four years, the officials said. He will not set a timetable for the move…

Saudi King Salman told Trump that any U.S. announcement on the status of Jerusalem would “inflame Muslim feelings all over the world,” the Saudi Press Agency said.” Reuters News, December 5, 2017.
The recent speech by President Donald Trump announcing the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capitol and the plan to move the U.S. Embassy there has set off a firestorm of controversy, especially amongst the Muslim world. On one hand the evangelical Christian world typically heralds the announcement as it coincides with their belief that the modern nation state of Israel are God’s chosen people and that the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 was the providence of God. As astutely pointed out by commentator Chuck Baldwin this misguided theology has turned so-called peace loving Christians into callused war mongers.
“Donald Trump, Republican neocons, and evangelical Christians seem to be salivating for global war. The neocons in Washington, D.C., are working to achieve a Rothschild/Goldman Sachs economic hegemony over the world. And conservative Christians are working to give the Zionist State of Israel political and military hegemony over the Middle East and trying to help usher in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ (as if He needs their help).
I’ll say it plainly: modern evangelical Christianity has been co-opted by Talmudic Zionism. Dispensational prophecy teaching regarding the modern State of Israel has turned Christians—who ostensibly have dedicated themselves to following the Prince of Peace—into cold, callused purveyors of WAR.
Yes, all of this war fever is due to ONE thing: blind support for the Zionist State of Israel.
Christians have been misled into believing that the Rothschild Zionist State of Israel created in 1948 is Biblical Israel. IT IS NOT. Modern Israel is NOT Biblical Israel; modern Jerusalem is NOT Biblical Jerusalem. They are not remotely the same.”
Another observer points out the universal support of evangelical Christians behind Trump’s announcement is due to their particular understanding of Bible prophecy.
“America’s Christian far right, which comprises half of Republican voters, earnestly believes in Biblical prophesy that the Messiah cannot come until ancient Israel is reconstituted, the world’s Jews are ingathered to Greater Israel, the Messiah returns and non-believers perish in the final destruction of earth.
These folk are ardent ‘Christian Zionists’ who applaud Trump’s policies. Most of their information about the outside comes from Christian evangelical publications and TV stations or, in the case of Trump, from Fox TV, another dedicated supporter of Greater Israel.
The Christian evangelists are the core of Trump’s support in rural and suburban America. In fact, as Kevin Phillips wrote in his brilliant book “American Theocracy,” the Republicans have mostly become a rightwing religious party representing the less enlightened parts of America. These fundamentalists must be very pleased that their good president Trump is speeding the arrival of the Messiah.”
On the other hand the Seventh-day Adventist Church, to date, remains almost completely silent on this development as they see no connection with Bible prophecy as it concerns the status of Jerusalem and developments around the state of Israel. Sadly, they could not be more mistaken in their assessment of the importance of this development as a fulfillment of Bible prophecy. And the reason why is because they have no inspired interpretations on a multitude of prophecies that specifically center around Jerusalem and the promised land in the latter days which are found in the books of Zechariah, Zephaniah, Daniel, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and the Revelation. Ironically the answer to all of these complicated and somewhat perplexing geo-political developments can only be found in the writings of the Shepherd’s Rod message which the church leadership rejected decades ago. For example, a brief list below enumerates some of the startling revelations that are found in the prophets of old who spoke more for our present time than for their own day.
- The modern nation of Israel is identified in prophecy, not as God’s chosen people, but as a nation not desired (Zeph. 2:1-3).
- There will be a gigantic world war centered around the Middle East that are a result of the hostilities that arose during World War 2 (Nahum, Zech. 14).
- The Arabs who originally drove the Jewish people out of the promised land centuries past will be the ones who build it up for God’s designated people in the latter days (Zech. 1:20, 21).
- Islam’s role in latter day Bible prophecy is not what most people think.
- Who will be the only people that will not bow down and submit to the New World Government? (Rev. 13, 17)
- America’s role in Bible prophecy (Rev. 13)
- The inheritors of God’s kingdom in the promised land will be neither Jew nor Arab unless they are born again and accept Christ as their savior and indeed many will.

What is your understanding of the length of time from the set-up of the infant Kingdom (Dan.2:44) until the Second Advent (1 Thes. 4:16)?
Another please: Who is judged at the Great White Throne and when does it take place?
One more please: Does the Lord touch the earth at the Second Advent (1 Thes. 4:16)?

Students of the Advent message and the original Shepherd’s Rod message should be able to readily answer such questions unless, of course, you are intending to lead us down the hole of some aberrant theology? But for the sake of those who may not know the time from the establishment of the kingdom to the second advent is 7 years (Eze. 39:9) + 15 months (Dan. 7:12), the period of the 7 last plagues which brings a total of 8 years and 3 months. Any Adventist knows that when Jesus comes in the clouds of glory at the visible second advent He will not place His feet on the earth (Matt. 24:26, 27).
