Ever since The Shepherd’s Rod message was introduced to the Seventh-day Adventist church in 1930 there has been a continual barrage of anti-Rod literature and false accusations against Davidian Seventh-day Adventists in a desperate effort to discourage honest Adventists from investigating its claims for themselves. Yet, despite these superhuman efforts (GC 608) to keep the truth for God’s people, the enemies attacks have often turned upon itself when sincere hearted believers read both sides of the story for themselves and see that none of these publications are able to refute the plain teachings coming from The Shepherd’s Rod. This fact is confirmed in numerous testimonies and reports that have been published nearly since the message began. The principal medium was The Symbolic Codes which were published by Victor T. Houteff from 1934 to 1943 in nine (9) volumes. Excerpts from these Codes reveal the failed attempts of the Seventh-day Adventist church leadership to refute the teachings of The Rod through two early publications entitled “A Warning Against Error” and “A Reply to the Shepherd’s Rod”. A compilation of these testimonies is now available for all to see in the PDF document listed below (See also, the Rod tract No. 7 entitled “The Great Controversy over the Shepherd’s Rod”)
Remarkably, the same spirit that opposed The Shepherd’s Rod message when it first appeared is ever so active at the present time, most especially as the sealing of the 144,000 is even closer at the doors. Additional publications (e.g. “The Story of the Shepherd’s Rod”) have since been issued by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in an attempt to take advantage of the confusion that entered following the death of Victor T. Houteff in 1955 and the unauthorized take over of the organization by his wife Florence. Not surprisingly, these documents have begun to appear on the web in various forms, including an anonymous attack site specifically targeted against The Rod. A notorious tract entitled “A True Witness Speaks” has resurfaced which was written by a certain Hazel Hendricks, a early Rod advocate who turned tail on the message and became one of its most bitter foes (PDF of early testimonies from Sis. Hendricks). So also with the story of more recent Rod traitors such as Ishmael Rodriguez who are actively preaching on the Adventist church circuit promoting an attack video documentary against the message he once believed. What is interesting to note about all of the efforts to stamp out the plain truths of The Rod is that they repeat the same old worn out arguments and false accusations used against The Rod teachings since the beginning, none of which have been refuted on a single point to this day.
