The Adult Sabbath School lesson of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for the second quarter for 2013 is entitled Major Lessons from the Minor Prophets. The first lesson begins with the first two chapters of the book of Hosea and skirts around the long standing paradox regarding the meaning of the Hosea’s marriage to a prostitute and whether this marriage is literal, or symbolic and portending of a message of much greater import to God’s people today, the Seventh-day Adventist Church in particular. For centuries scholars and theologians have attempted to explain the message from this unusual family relationship but have failed to come to any consensus.
